integrated_report_cardA Prototype Report Card for the Status and Trends of Biodiversity, Soils and Landscapes in the Wet Tropics

This report card presents the results and recommendations of the Wet Tropics based project 'Status and trends of biodiversity and ecosystem services: State of the Environment reporting and gap filling' (MTSRF Project 1.2.1(c)). Presented here is a prototype indicator framework for the biodiversity, soils and landscape assets of the Wet Tropics, and preliminary results for their present condition based on expert opinion and the most recent available data. For each of these natural assets, the current status and trends are assessed, and priorities for natural resource management actions are identified. The report card also highlights information gaps, and makes recommendations for how these gaps should be filled [Download PDF 4.8Mb]

Marine Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Report Card, 2009

The first Australian benchmark of climate change impacts on marine ecosystems and options for adaptation was released in Brisbane in November 2009.

With input from James Cook University researchers, who are funded through MTSRF Program 4, the Marine Climate Change Impacts and Adapation Report Card for Australia, along with accompanying website, will provide a biennial guide for scientists, government and the community on observed and projected impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems.

Read more about and download the report card at the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility website.

Impacts of the MTSRF

impacts_ofmtsrf_180wideImpacts of the MTSRF:   Most research facilities measure their success in tems of the number of scientific and technical publications they have produced.  While publication by this means is an extremely important step to maintaining the credibility of scientific information, the objectives of the MTSRF are more accurately served using additional indicators of performance.  Updated in September 2009, the MTSRF presents brief descriptions of some of the cases in which successful delivery of MTSRF-funded 'solution science' to end users has contributed to changes in policy and/or practice.
