Project Description and Objectives
For detailed descriptions of the outputs for
this project for Year 4 (2009/2010) of the MTSRF Research
Programme, see the Annual Research
Plan.
In recognition of the fact that the North Queensland tourism
industry is a major end user of MTSRF research conducted in the Wet
Tropics rainforest ecosystems, there is a need for enhanced
delivery of MTSRF results into this sector. This should occur
in line with the MTSRF's overarching plan to enhance science
delivery. In addition, dedicated facilitation of engagement
between researchers and this industry is required, also within the
context of the engagement system and framework fo the MTSRF.
This project involves principal activities carred out by TTNQ
staff across the Townsville and Cairns nodes of the tourism
industry. TTNQ staff are expected to use their comprehensive
knowledge of the North Queensland ecotourism industry to enhance
the delivery of MTSRF information so that it benefits operators by
improving the environmental sustainability of their management,
policy or practice.
Key objectives of this project are to:
-
Develop and use mechanisms to enhance the delivery of research
findings and uptake by the Tropical Ecotourism sector in North
Queensland; and
-
Report on the success of these mechanisms in enhancing
delivery.
