Project 5.10 - Enhancing Delivery of the MTSRF

Project Leader and Host Organisation

Reef and Rainforest Research Centre Limited

Project Description and Objectives

The broad objectives of activities and projects in Theme 5 (and Program 10) are to:

  • Facilitate increasingly sustainable management of the North Queensland  region (MTSRF research area), in which decision-making is informed by sound science, by enhancing delivery of that scientific information to end users; and

  • Facilitate cooperation and collaboration both within MTSRF and between MTSRF, other research providers, and end users, such that the capacity for during this process, to raise awareness of and demonstrate the value of the MTSRF to the community that has funded it.

Communication is the major tool the RRRC uses to achieve these strategic objectives on behalf of the MTSRF.

To fulfill these objectives efficiently, the RRRC must identify high-priority information and convey it effectively to targeted audiences/end users. In this context, the following questions guide the preparation of every communication product emanating from the RRRC:

  • How will communication of this research information help achieve set objectives?

  • To whom should the information be delivered to if it is to help achieve set objectives (end users and/or audience)?

  • What form of communication will best facilitate the uptake of this information by the target audience/end user(s)? How can this be achieved most efficiently, given the limited resources of the RRRC?

  • How can it be determined whether delivery of the information has been successful?

Major Project Outputs

The Annual Research Plans, or ARPs, outline the specific tasks, products, budgets and staff for each research project within each of the Research Themes and Programs of the MTSRF.  The ARPs also outline the key deliverables, or 'project milestones' (e.g. major reports, journal articles, communications products) to be achieved.

An ARP is developed for each operating year of the MTSRF (2006-2010).

Details of this and previous years' outputs from this project are included in each of the Annual Research Plans
