Understanding causes, impacts and mitigation
options for specific threats and understanding and measuring the
underpinning factors supporting resilience
Early identification of risks and threats to
North Queensland's key environment assets, and early advice on
options to mitigate and better manage these threats, are critical
to the future environmental, economic and social underpinning of
North Queensland. In particular, options for promoting
adaptation to climate change, increased climate variability and
mitigation of the impacts of invasive species have been identified
as key priorities for North Queensland. It is anticipated
that research results from Theme 2 will be dealing with the
prediction of impacts, sources of resilience, and importantly,
practical responses to threats and their mitigation.
Theme 2 involves two Programs:
Program 5i - Climate
Change: Great Barrier Reef
Program 5ii -
Climate Change: Rainforest and Catchments
Program 6 -
Understanding Threats and Impacts of Invasive Pests on
