What is MTSRF? 'MTSRF' stands for 'Marine and Tropical Sciences Research Facility'. The MTSRF is an Australian Government initiative to fund world-class public good research into North Queensland's unique environmental assets. The MTSRF supports research addressing the key environmental challenges facing the Great Barrier Reef and its catchments, tropical rainforests, including the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, and the Torres Strait. Click here for further information (external website). What is CERF? 'CERF' stands for 'Commonwealth Environment Research Facility'. The CERF programme is an Australian Government initiative to address the environmental challenges faced by Australia, of which the MTSRF is a major component. The primary role of the CERF programme is to provide funding for the creation of national multi-disciplinary research hubs. Click here for further information (external website). What is RRRC? 'RRRC' stands for 'Reef and Rainforest Research Centre Limited'. The RRRC has been contracted by the Australian Government to implement the MTSRF in North Queensland.
