  • What is MTSRF?

  • 'MTSRF' stands for 'Marine and Tropical Sciences Research Facility'.
  • The MTSRF is an Australian Government initiative to fund world-class public good research into North Queensland's unique environmental assets.
  • The MTSRF supports research addressing the key environmental challenges facing the Great Barrier Reef and its catchments, tropical rainforests, including the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, and the Torres Strait.

  • What is CERF?

  • 'CERF' stands for 'Commonwealth Environment Research Facility'.
  •  The CERF programme is an Australian Government initiative to address the environmental challenges faced by Australia, of which the MTSRF is a major component.
  • The primary role of the CERF programme is to provide funding for the creation of national multi-disciplinary research hubs.

  • 'RRRC' stands for 'Reef and Rainforest Research Centre Limited'.
