What does RRRC stand for?

  • 'RRRC' stands for Reef & Rainforest Research Centre.

What does MTSRF stand for?

  • 'MTSRF' stands for Marine and Tropical Sciences Research Facility, an Australian Government initiative to fund world-class public good research into North Queensland's unique environmental assets.  The four-year program finished in 2010, however research investment has continued through the Government's National Environmental Research Program.

What does NERP stand for?

  • 'NERP' stands for National Environmental Research Program.  The RRRC has been contracted to administrate the NERP Tropical Ecosystems hub, commencing in 2011.  One of five hubs to be funded by the NERP, the Tropical Ecosystems hub aims to address issues of concern for the management, conservation and sustainable use of the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef and its catchments, tropical rainforests including the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, and the terrestrial and marine assets underpinning resilient communities in the Torres Strait.
