  • Dr David Souter, Research and Spatial Systems Director

    Experienced in coral reef research and tropical coastal ecosystems management in Australia, East Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands, South and Southeast Asia through World Bank, UNEP, Sida, and AusAID funded programs. David currently coordinates the Great Barrier Reef theme of the MTSRF and brokers the production of the Great Barrier Reef Atlas.

  • Dr Joelle Prange, Senior Research Manager 

    Experience in catchment to reef water quality, natural resource management and tropical marine ecosystem health assessment in Australia and the South Pacific. Joelle has worked with researchers, managers and the community to co-ordinate and effectively communicate science and research outcomes.

  • Ms Mellissa Jess, Senior Research Manager - Rainforest and Catchments

    Mellissa's experience includes expertise in wildlife research and management, monitoring and evaluation of mulga and rangeland communities, rehabilitation projects for threatended species/communities, ecological consultancy and collaboration in international  quarantine research. Mellissa has a high degree of comprehension in environmental strategic planning and has devloped strong relationships with regulatory authorities and management groups across Australia.

  • Dr Suzanne Long, Senior Scientist (Synthesis)

    Suzanne's role at RRRC draws upon her broad international experience as a research scientist working in the fields of evolutionary biology, marine ecology and conservation biology. Suzanne leads Theme 5 of the MTSRF and  is motivated to ensure that publicly-funded, public-good research actually benefits the public.

    Experienced in tropical coastal ecology, environmental management and policy advice in the Indo-Pacific.  Currently Coordinator of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network and formerly a Senior Specialist Scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science.
